The Coates Lab will be bidding farewell to our class of 2023 bachelor graduates Cate Holmes, Jude Edwards, and Lyla Krock. Thank you for contributing to research in the Coates lab. We wish you the best in road ahead!

Undergraduate Researchers Judith Edwards, Lyla Krock, and Lester Xue will be joining the Coates Lab starting the Fall 2023-2024 semester. Judith will be working with researcher Yi Liu on Carbon sequestion. Lyla and Lester will be mentored by senior graduate student David Meier on dissimilarity perchlorate reduction. Welcome!

Congratulations to Coates lab graduate student Dr. Victor Reyes-Umana, who has received his PhD in Microbiology! Victor’s journey in academia will be on pause for now, as he is working to revolutionize the industrial fermentation process through his company, Izote Biosciences. Best of luck to you, Victor.

We are excited to announce the graduation of Dr. Sophia Ewens, who has received her PhD in Microbiology. Sophia will be dearly missed by the members of the Coates Lab, but we have no doubt that she will be off accomplishing greater and better things in life!
